Parents and communities play a vital role in school governance, contributing their voices, knowledge and support to guide decisions, strengthen accountability and help schools thrive.
Every Northern Territory Government school is recognised as a School Body, which may be a School Representative Body (SRB), either a School Council or Board, or a School Management Council (SMC). Where a Council or Board exists, parents and communities have a genuine voice in decisions, helping shape school priorities and ensure accountability. Their involvement in school governance strengthens connections between families, staff and students, ensures decisions reflect community needs and helps create positive learning environments for every child.
