Every school body has a voice. NTCOGSO’s role is to bring those voices together and ensure they are heard at a Territory level.

It starts locally. School bodies raise issues based on the needs of their students and communities. These voices are then shared more broadly through regional engagement, where common themes begin to emerge across schools.

Those shared priorities are brought to Full Council, where member schools formally put forward and vote on motions. This is how NTCOGSO’s advocacy positions are set, directly by members.

Through this process, school bodies have shaped advocacy on issues such as School Based Mental Health Services, Artificial Intelligence in Schools, and School Based Health Promoting Nurses.

At the 2025 Full Council, members also carried motions calling for ongoing funding for Infrastructure & the Period Pain and Endometriosis Program, which remain an active focus in discussions with government.

Advocacy also delivers outcomes. Recent improvements to Counsellors in schools and the Back to School Voucher reflect the collective voice of families.

Affiliation ensures your school body is part of this process, strengthening the collective voice representing Territory students and families.
