For Nurdiah Mayo, Casuarina Senior College has remained an important part of her life for decades.
As a student, Nurdiah was taught by Glenn Dixon. Today, Glenn is the College Principal, Nurdiah is Chair of the School Board, and her own daughter now attends the school.
It is a story that reflects the enduring connections government schools create across generations. It also highlights the important partnership between School Board Chairs and Principals, working together to provide strong governance and support positive outcomes for every student.
"Casuarina Senior College has played a significant role in my journey," Nurdiah said.
"Looking back, I never imagined that one day I would return as Chair of the School Board, working alongside my former teacher, Glenn, who is now the Principal. It really highlights the lasting impact that educators and schools can have on their students, and how those connections can come full circle."
"Having my daughter, Ayla, now attend Casuarina Senior College - and my sister also working there - makes that connection even more meaningful. It has given me the opportunity to contribute to a school that has been part of both my own education and my family's future."
