About Us

The Northern Territory Council of Government School Organisations was founded in 1971 to represent the interests of the families and school communities of children attending Northern Territory public schools.

While it's funded by the NT Government, NT COGSO is a community-based, not-for-profit association that is governed by a Constitution.  Its objectives are to ensure the interest of government funded schools are represented at the local school, NT and federal government levels.

This is done in a number ways:

  • Liaison between the NT Minister for Education and the Department of Education Chief Executive and School Councils and Boards
  • Contribution to current debates in relation to government schooling
  • Representation on relevant standing committees, working parties and other educational groups.

In 2016 the NT Department of Education also entered a specific purpose funding agreement for NT COGSO to provide training to improve Governance Training to all NT School Councils and Boards.  This training is to be delivered throughout this year by a team of trainers now being recruited.

The NT COGSO structure comprises of the following Executive team:

  • President  (Tabby Fudge)
  • Vice President (Robin Lawrence)
  • Treasurer (Tooba Awais)
  • Arnhem Region Representative (Jeff Cook)
  • Barkly Region Representative (Wayne Green)
  • Darwin Region Representative (Noelene Armstrong)
  • Palmerston and Rural Region Representative (Beverley Ratahi)
  • Katherine Region Representative (Allan Kingsley)
  • Southern Region Representative (John Adams)

NT COGSO office is based in Darwin and comprises of an Executive Officer and a Executive Assistant to the Executive Officer.

We have recently welcomed a Governance & Mentoring Training Officer (GMTO) to the team, Alice Gawler, who is based at the Darwin Office.

NT COGSO is currently seeking another GMTO Officer, hoping to be based in either Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy or Tennant Creek.
