Annual Council & AGM
As Term Three draws to a close I would like to thank all School Councils, parents, COGSO Executive members and COGSO staff for making our Annual Council & AGM held on August 2nd, an enjoyable and successful event.
Two new policies were approved at the Annual Council meeting:
Indigenous Education and Middle Years of Schooling.
They are available in our policy document on the COGSO website www.ntcogso.org.au, or you can ring our office on 8999 3255 to request a hard copy. The next print run of our Policy handbook is scheduled for commencement of the new school year in 2009.
Your involvement in education does makes a difference
Students whose parents are actively involved in their education have more positive attitudes and behaviors than those with less involved parents.
The most effective parental engagement goes beyond being involved in activities in and around school – it is about parents and teachers working together to support the child’s learning in the classroom and, equally importantly, in the home.
As parents, many of us already understand how important it is to be involved in our children’s education, however we do find it difficult in today’s busy world to be as involved as we would like.
In spite of this I cannot urge you strongly enough to make every effort to find the best way for your whole family to be involved in your child’s education. The time you spend now will most definitely pay off in the long run.
